MARINEMAX DEDICATES ANOTHER HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HOME TO A LOCAL FAMILY
CLEARWATER, FL (April 21, 2022) – The MarineMax tagline "United by Water" captures the spirit of their culture, that we are all in it together. Each of the over 70 MarineMax locations prides itself on supporting local community efforts both on and off the water. For the fifth straight year, MarineMax partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco to sponsor a home for a deserving family.
Brett McGill, MarineMax CEO and President, comments, "MarineMax is proud to continue to support this life-changing organization. Not only do we get the chance to change a family's life for the better, it also brings our team together to support and contribute to the needs in our community."
This year's home was dedicated on April 19 to the Lvea family. Sophal Lvea is a single mother of two, Jasmine (14) and Devin (15). After receiving the news that their family was accepted into the Habitat program, Sophal said she was so happy that she cried "tears of joy! I can't believe it. The first thing that came to mind was that my kids will now have a brighter future with a stable home."
"A Habitat for Humanity house dedication ceremony is life-changing," states McGill. "Our team spent seven full weeks working with Sophal and her family to help make their dreams come true. MarineMax is built on a foundation of bringing friends, family and the community together.
Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco helps low-income families purchase a house with a zero-interest mortgage to help build generational wealth and equity for families, breaking the cycle of poverty. Recipients participate in educational seminars to set them up for success and work alongside sponsors to accrue 350 to 450 "sweat equity hours." A decent home offers the strength, stability, and independence families need to thrive. Habitat for Humanity houses are accessible in all 50 states and more than 70 other countries through donations and volunteer efforts. MarineMax looks forward to continuing its long-standing relationship with Habitat for Humanity for many years to come.
