Your Questions Answered: Recommended Boat Gadgets and Innovations
Lately, we've been hearing that many boaters are wondering what type of technology they should get for their boats for 2024. Because this question came up quite a bit, we've decided to go straight to the source and ask one of our technicians for their expert advice!
Recommendations by our Service Technician Michael Stack
Due to the fact the latest tech on boats is such a hot topic, we asked Michael Stack from MarineMax Clearwater, a Mercury-certified service technician who has been with the company for four years, knows a lot about technology, and enjoys the family atmosphere most at MarineMax. Michael’s favorite boat is a Boston Whaler Outrage, and his favorite hobby is fishing.
Marine Guardian GPS Tracking System
One of Michael's tech recommendations is the Marine Guardian GPS tracking system. He describes it as an alternative to others and shares that it provides tracking, security, surveillance, and monitoring for boaters. Unlike other marine GPS trackers that only use satellites, the Marine Guardian uses 4G cellular and satellite for tracking, which helps eliminate signal loss due to automatic switching capabilities for seamless monitoring. Additionally, technology is useful when a boat is in an indoor storage facility.
“Another benefit of Marine Guardian is the ability to connect a range of different sensors that a customer will be able to monitor from their home or office. Some of the sensors they offer are low battery alert, high water in the bilge, door sensors, and infrared beams that will alert a customer if someone is on the boat if the system is armed,” says Michael.
Bluetooth Management in Lithium Batteries
Considering Bluetooth technology is used almost everywhere you can imagine, Michael is also a fan of the integration of Bluetooth management in lithium batteries. This innovative technology developed for a Bluetooth lithium battery monitor allows a boater to view battery status on a phone or tablet from anywhere. He explains that the reduced weight, longer run times, and shorter charge times of these technology-infused batteries allow one to enjoy more time spent on their on-the-water investment.
Technology-Infused Boat
Speaking of technology, did you know that Harris pontoons have quite a bit of it? Yes, they do, and besides the latest advancements in technology for smooth performance and a powerful ride, the luxurious Harris Grand Mariner 270 has innovative features, such as an all-electric tower and C-Zone within the helm, where colorful LED lighting can be initiated to light up the night sky with fun!
