MarineMax Celebrates International Marine Service Technician Week
Andy Rishovd, National Service and Parts Manager, comments, "MarineMax is extremely grateful for all our hard-working technicians who keep our boats running and put smiles on customers' faces. We are thrilled to have all the stellar men and women who perform rigorous work on our boats and yachts. You are an essential part of the MarineMax family, and without you, we wouldn't be where we are today. Thank you to all our wonderful technicians!"
With an estimated 100 million Americans boating each year, the recreational boating industry continues to be a major economic driver, supporting more than 690,000 jobs and 35,000 businesses. Marine technicians play a crucial role in keeping boats properly maintained and ensuring that recreational boaters stay safe on the water.
According to the latest National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract, the strong demand for boats that surged in 2020 has leveled off, but boating remains one of the most popular leisure activities in the U.S. While retail sales of new powerboats, personal watercraft, and sailboats have stabilized compared to previous highs, the overall boating market continues to grow, fueled by increased participation and long-term boat ownership.
To support this growing base of boaters, the marine industry requires skilled technicians who can provide high-quality repair and maintenance services. As more boats hit the water, the demand for highly trained marine service technicians remains essential to ensure safety and enhance the boating experience.
Kyle Langbehn, EVP and President of Retail Operations, comments, “As the backbone of the marine industry, I want to thank all the highly skilled technicians out there helping our customers enjoy their time and connections on the water. And if you're looking to change lives, the marine industry is a perfect place. There is no better time than now to look for an exciting and rewarding career."
